Most students today could use a few extra bucks in their pockets. I have created a simplified list of how to create a blog, place ads and start making money. Please note that you must like to create and write and that time is needed to spend on blog.
Please note that this is for somewhat tech/internet savvy users

1. Register a domain name. You can visit Godaddy, Network Solutions or any other domain registrar. Try to search the internet for coupon codes for a discounted domain price. (Try not to exceed $8 a year). Register this domain name for a recommended 5 years to show that your site/blog is here to stay.
2. Visit WordPress.org. Click on “Download WordPress” button. Save the file to computer, unzip it and upload the contents to your ftp area on new website.
3. Follow the wordpress instructions here.
4. Once you have finished installing wordpress, please secure blog. You must disable automatic comments and approve all comments in order to not recieve thousands of spam messages and comments. Go over tabs in admin area to secure. I also recommend going to ReCaptcha to include a picture verification for registration and commenting.
5. Create a nice design for your blog. Visit here for ready templates plus a how to implement guide.
6. You are ready to publish. Start writing daily articles if possible. The more content the better. Each article will talk about a specific subject. Make it fun for readers to want to read it and give them a reason to come back. Don’t forget to enter “tags” and “categories” using only main ideas (college tutoring, college parties, etc).
7. Insert Ads into blog. Try this of search for “wordpress adsense”.
8. Start promoting your blog by letting your friends know, linked the blog from your myspace or facebook and any student homepage that you have, gathering links and submitting your blog rss feeds.
9. Read more about SEO and search for “how to promote my blog”.
10. Enjoy your new student blod and ofcourse, the whole process. You need to love your job and “work as play”
