Parking Pollution

Today, at around noon time, we met with family to go to eat at the Cheesecake factory in Sherman Oaks, Ca. It took awhile to find parking but eventually I got to squeeze in between two Japanese cars, one of the cars being a Prius Hybrid (interestingly connecting with our story). While walking towards the valet area and escallator, I had noticed that the air quality was uncomfortable. Although I probably am a bit more delicate and am aware of the air quality, I have noticed that I had a desire to spit on the asphalt (something I almost never do). It was a sense of need to reject the air being taken in. I spat while walking and quickly wiped it with my shoe. We used the elevator and I felt a bit of relief to be outside.

We walked into the Chessecake factory, had a nice meal while catching up on family stories and took a few pictures with each other. On the way back to the car, we had to pass through the undergraound parking lot to get to the car and again I had felt an uncomfortable feeling in my throat. I tried to walk quickly towards the car, but slowed down for the thought of an increased heart rate and taking in more air due to the increased pace would not be a good idea.

Maybe these thoughts were paranoid or mistaken as I may have breathed the bad air in from a different source but I am going with my intuition and have posted this blog to warn about the bad air quality in the parking lot of the Sherman Oaks Galleria. I believe although I am not an expert, that there may be bad circulation of air or little to none and that the car pollution accumulates as if a cloud with no air to push it other directions. In addition, I kept on thinking of the valet personel that worked there every day.

I will update this post to include research of my findings. Also, If you know any information or have ideas to share, please do so. Oh, and by the way, the Prius that I parked next to is one step in removing smog for the world and from los angeles in particluar. In one of my next posts, I will discuss a bit about Hybrid, Electric Cars, Global Warming and what we can do as an individual.
